The objective of > this research is to provide new insight into the complex dynamics of the > East Australian Current through data assimilative numerical modelling. > We will assess the value of new oceanic observations mainly acquired > through the Australian IMOS program in improving state-estimation and > thus prediction, along Australia’s highly populated east coast. >
> It is expected that the successful applicant will undertake original > research, leading to publications in leading international journals, on > this and associated topics.

> Essential requirements for the position: a PhD in Physical Oceanography > or a related discipline. Experience with regional ocean modelling > (preferably ROMS) is essential, and proficiency with visualisation tools > such as Matlab is also desirable. A demonstrated ability to undertake > independent research; excellent computing and communication skills and > the ability to work both independently and as a member of a research team. >
> This is a fixed term position for 18 months with the possibility of > extension dependent on funding. We seek a mid year start date – or sooner. >
