Portuguese research with RV Falkor from the Schmidt Ocean Institute
A 3 week cruise on board the RV Falkor from the Schmidt Ocean Institute just finished. The leadership of the cruise was from the Laboratório de Sistemas e Tecnologias Subaquáticas (LSTS), Porto University
It involved a wide range of institutions, most of them Portuguese.
The operations area was the Subtropical front located approx 1000Nm west of San Diego.
This cruise was about demonstrating a novel approach to observe the ocean with multiple underwater, surface, and air vehicles using the R/V Falkor as base and control center.
